This the calm before the storm- rosy cheeked and exuberant, we dive into Holiday season. Whether we celebrate the holidays or not, the up kick in energy affects us all. The traffic gets heavier by the day and schedules start to stack up.
But whoa, whoa. We are getting ahead of ourselves. Let's take a moment to prepare, to take a deep breathe before we dive in. This week's intention is mentally, physically, and emotionally preparing ourselves before we enter periods of stress. On the mat, stress can take many forms, but oftentimes it manifests in a physical sensation. We push our bodies into stress, holding chatarangas and crescent lunges. Our practice is a laboratory for our daily lives, we test ourselves in moments of stress to gauge our reactions. The more we practice, the more of our true selves becomes apparent. So before we catapult ourselves into postures, we will take an extra pause, an extra breathe. We will to calm ourselves in the face of expectations and anticipation, to live now rather than a couple steps ahead. Giving ourselves space to observe before we react slows the world down, just a millisecond, so we can easily find our footing. And it is this grounding that will prepare us for the things to come.
